Christian Education / Faith Formation - Winter 2010
Christian Education is at the very heart of the church. The people of God, gathered in community, grow in faith and in the ability to live out their faith in daily life. This faith formation is the life-long, ongoing process by which every Christian, young or old, answers their baptismal call to follow Jesus.
Adults:
Sunday Bible Study on Revelation. People who read the biblical book of Revelation are often puzzled by many thoughts they read there. They don't know what to think of the strange creatures mentioned, the numbers that appear to have a secret meaning, and the extraordinary occurrences involving peculiar evil persons. What do you think of these matters?
The main emphasis in Revelation is stated already as early as Revelation 2:10, namely, "Be faithful unto death". To begin to understand the perils and threats to faithfulness for Christians as listed in Revelation requires considerable help from people who have spent a lot of time comparing Revelation to what is said by the message in the Bible elsewhere and by the opinions of other faithful Christians about this book.
This Fall the adult Bible study between services will be devoted to the book of Revelation under the guidance of Pastor Omar Stuenkel (starting September 19). There is much useful material to consider. An urgent need for adult Christians today is to become better acquainted with the biblical message. Studies have shown that adult ignorance of what is in the Bible is a major failing of Christians in our time.
