Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: Christian based faith, Associate degree in Child Development and 2 years early childhood classroom experience, 1 year management experience and knowledge of basic childcare bookkeeping and budgets (programs used Quickbooks & Excel). Bachelors degree in Child Development preferred.
Work Schedule
The Director is an exempt position that will provide availability during Center hours.

Professional Requirements
Must become knowledgeable and maintain and ensure compliance with TLC Learning Center policies and procedures. Have working knowledge of performance standards and Idaho State/city child care regulations, ICCP, USDA, and Idaho Stars programs. Attend all appropriate program workshops. Maintain certification in emergency first aid and CPR.

Report to TLC LC committee, Senior Pastor and TLC Congregation Council
Director Duties
- Ensure all record keeping current and organized in accordance with the state, city and church regulations.
- Attend all meetings and workshops as requested to share information and updates on enrolled families.
Monthly Trinity Lutheran Church Council meetings
- TLCLC Committee meetings
- All church staff meetings
- o Workshops and trainings to ensure current knowledge about both center management and child development.
- Ensure safety of children and staff.
- Create policies and programs that ensure that children are provided with a learning environment and varied experiences which will help them develop spiritually, socially, intellectually, physically, and emotionally in a manner appropriate to their age and stage of development toward the overall goal of social competence.
- Develop Center Christmas and Spring programs and fundraisers (as needed 2-3 times a year)
- Oversee marketing of school and hiring employees.
• Human Resources
- Staff Relations and supervision.
- Supervise all teachers, assistants, volunteers and visiting parents. Maintain positive relationships with children, co-workers and parents.
- Create staff schedules and oversee time sheets
- Employ and discharge employees/staff in order to assure the mission of TLC LC is accomplished.
- Conduct staff reviews once per year or as needed and exit interviews.
- Ensure proper staffing of all rooms to comply with city enforced ratios.
- Provide overall leadership and management of the Center’s staff to meet or exceed the Center’s mission, objectives and philosophy.
• Staff Training
- Assist in the development of classroom programs based on best practice. Monitor the implementation of best practice programs and ensure compliance with Center and city policies.
- Develop yearly age-appropriate programs and themes
- Review teacher prepared curriculum plans weekly.
- Execute monthly staff/training meetings to discuss concerns, regulations, scheduling, communication, education, parent/child issues, etc.
- Identify potential problems and retrain staff to address any issues positively
• TLC Relations
- Establish and maintain a positive and open relationship with the TLC staff and church members.
- Provide monthly letters for the TLC Heart Beat and semi-monthly bulletin update.
- Assist in maintaining the daily upkeep of the Center so it runs smoothly. Arrange for any general and major maintenance repairs in conjunction with the TLC Building and Grounds Committee.
• Parent Relations
- Address any complaints/comments in a timely manner.
- Distribute information to parents in the form of notes, newsletters and calendars.
- Enroll/Disenroll children as necessary ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed.
- Conduct monthly billing and be the point of contact for any issues
- Provide a full range of support for families. Assist in the coordination of and referral for comprehensive services, i.e. health, education, parent involvement and social services.
- Help parents become their child’s most effective teacher and advocate through activities that promote healthy living and assist special needs children.
- Establish and maintain effective two-way communication with parents to ensure opportunities for active program involvement and input maintaining confidentiality of child and family information.
- Coordinate projects with the TLCLC Parent Board
• Classroom Duties:
- Substitute in classrooms when needed
- Maintain on call status during reasonable hours so that staff can reach you as needed.
- Discipline children according to policy.
- Gather all supplies the teaching staff needs
- Shop for all classroom supplies and snack items as needed
• Office Duties:
- Oversee and complete all necessary accounting functions on Quickbooks
- Accounts Payable
-Accounts Receivable
-Yearly Budget and Monthly Report Preparation
-Reconcile all accounts on a monthly basis
-Monthly transfers from checking to petty with e-mail to Committee when completed
- Complete all necessary pre-employment paperwork with each employee
- Refer accounts to collections as needed
- Oversee financial paperwork for USDA food program and ensure compliance including monthly reports. Attend meetings as requested by USDA
- Work with TLC LC Bookkeeper to process all Workers’ Compensation paperwork
- Complete necessary licensing paperwork and ensure continued compliance.
- Distribute, collect and process all necessary paperwork for fund raisers including any ongoing activities (i.e. Capri Sun, Soup Labels)
- Continually research available fund raising and grant opportunities available to the school.
- Prepare Center newsletter for distribution to families and Church members.
- Prepare needed memos and letters
- Coordinate any needed repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Maintain office supplies
Time spent in a Director capacity shall also be considered part of normal work and normal salary.
Benefit package
• Salary wage based on experience and education
• 50% child care for first child enrolled at TLC LC and 10% on any additional children. All discounts exclude infant room.
• Renewal of City license requirements paid
• $80.00/year (Nov. to Nov.) for continuing education classes (hours during classes are not paid)
• Time off for observed Holidays. Holidays include New Years Day, Presidents Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day after, Noon closure Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the day after. If the holiday falls on Saturday the Holiday will be observed on the Friday before. If the Holiday falls on Sunday the Holiday will be observed on the following Monday.

Personal Time
• Includes any time off work (sick, vacation, personal time)
• Personal days accrue as follows: after 6 months, 5 days; after one year, additional 5 days (total of 10); after two years of employment, two additional days per year will be added. Capping at 25 days per year.
• Personal days can be taken in any increment up to10 days at a time
• Personal days may not accumulate. They are to be taken within the year of being earned.
• All Personal days need to be used before two weeks notice of dismissal is given.
• All time off needs Committee approval and logged on master calendar.
• TLC LC does NOT pay out personal time in cash; it has to be taken with time off.
• If a chronic condition necessitates frequent absence from duties (e.g. one or more days per week), a doctor’s statement should be filed.
• Maternity: 12 weeks of unpaid maternity leave will be granted with full benefits. Personal Time may be applied.
